About Sanjeev Tuli

Hello, my name is Dr. Tuli and I serve as the associate chair of the department of pediatrics and chief of the division of general academic pediatrics at UF, a division with forty-seven faculty and thirty-five advanced practitioner registered nurses, physician assistants, lactation consultants, psychologists and psychotherapists. I completed my residency in pediatrics at Henry Ford Health System in 1997. I also completed a master’s degree in education (M. Ed) in 2012 at the University of Florida and Leadership Development Program in 2014. In addition to my board-certification in general pediatrics, I was inducted in the College of Medicine prestigious Society of Teaching Scholars in 2019 and Alpha Omega Alpha Society in 2022.

I became a pediatrician so I can help and make a significant contribution while building long term relationships with the children and their families. My interests and expertise fall into pediatric dermatology, infectious diseases, allergies, asthma, and creating and managing a medical home for children with special healthcare needs.

I have taught courses and given presentations at international, national, regional and local conferences, and at the University of Florida. I have more than 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals and have been actively involved in clinical research as a principal investigator or co-investigator. I have been active in conducting research on quality improvement and resident education issues such as teaching developmental screening in continuity clinics and determining factors that lead to improved outcomes in resident education. I am also involved with improving vision screening, especially in preschool children at the local and national levels. I serve on the Editorial Advisory Board for AAP’s Coding Publications, Florida Pediatrician and Consultant for Pediatricians and as a reviewer for several scholarly journals.

At the national level, I have served on the American Academy of Pediatrics’ National Committee on Coding and Nomenclature (COCN). The policy work of the COCN directly affects reimbursement for pediatricians throughout the nation. One of the most important roles I served at the national level is as the “AAP CPT Alternate Advisor” to the American Medical Association. In this role, I helped review other national organizations’ CPT code change proposals for potential pediatric impacts as well as shepherd Academy-sponsored proposals through the code development process. At the state level, I serve as the Vice President of Florida Association of Children Hospitals (FACH) and on the Board of Florida Chapter of AAP (FCAAP).

In my spare time, I enjoy travelling, gardening and spending time outdoors.
