Referral for Pediatricians and Community Partners
As a primary health care provider and/or community agency, you are often a family’s first link to early intervention. You can help families engage in the early intervention process in two simple ways:
- Screen infants and toddlers for developmental delays
- Refer infants and toddlers birth through 36 months for an eligibility evaluation to determine a child’s eligibility for our program
When discussing early intervention supports with a family you are not referring their child to therapy, you are referring the family for an eligibility evaluation. According to Federal policy, services must be decided upon by the Individual Family Support Plan (IFSP).
